Sweet Potatoes for Hair Health?

Posted on March 20, 2019

One of the best things about being located in Portland, Oregon is the easy access to just about any fresh fruit or vegetable. If your hair is feeling dull and seems to have lost its luster, sweet potatoes may be one food that can help you to bring back those shiny locks. They contain the antioxidant Beta-Carotene, which your body uses to make vitamin-A, which helps to strengthen them and stop them from becoming dry and brittle. In addition, it can help in the production of sebum, which also stops the hair from becoming too dry. Vitamin A also is great for maintaining healthy skin, strengthening the immune system, and ensuring eye health and good vision. Some foods that contain the Vitamin-A making beta-carotene are:

  • Apricots
  • Asparagus
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  • Chinese cabbage
  • Chives
  • Grapefruit
  • KaleKetchup
  • Onions
  • Peas
  • Peppers
  • Plums
  • Pumpkin
  • Spinach
  • Squash (Butternut or Acorn)
  • Sweet potatoes

As long as you are eating foods of this type as a regular part of your diet, your body will not need to add it in as a supplement.
